It’s been a little while since I posted here, and it’s not been without some practice, some news, some new possibilities and some real commitment to not rushing anything.
That said, here is the visual journey of my attempt to draft a work on the basis of Colossians 1:15-17 on behalf of Johann Karsten on the Dark Shore Discord.
I am doing a great deal of publishing in the Dark Shore Industries’ channels on the Dark Shore server on Discord, and while I would like to replicate or republish most of it here, it’s just not in the calendar. Instead, join us! A rising tide lifts all ships.
As to the variety of artwork that follows, I always begin with a boiler-plate formula for the style I’m chasing. This is half the battle to drafting creative art. But the rest is summarizing something like the following in as few words as possible.
“15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
This was not exactly easy. But I’ll confess that the 50 cent word “Pantocrator” gave me a lot of mileage. In fact, this icon (the 6th in chronological development) demonstrates how the term became increasingly uninspiring, even to a computer.
Here are the first five in their order:
Then, less than excited with the computer’l diminishing excitement, I added some mirth to the formula and things got spicy.
Take your pick. None of them are Jesus. All of them testify of him, and all the more when you go back and read that Colossians text one more time, which is the one part of all of this that will surely endure forever. Until next time!
