Scattering Seed in Choppy Waters
The Church of Jesus Christ Has Never Needed Permission to Act
Some Christians believe that because the Republican Party occasionally borrows our language, or because we get photo ops with conservative politicians, we have a real seat at the table in shaping the future of the nation. The mistake isn’t in taking the opportunity—it’s in thinking that it meant we had power.
Hello: that was a transaction, not a partnership.
You’re dealing with the beast. Only the Whore rides it forever. And even that isn’t for much longer…
The GOP grants favors based on convenience, not allegiance.
The Church doesn’t need political permission to act. It doesn’t require the world’s approval to do what Christ has already commanded. It is time to scatter seed, leave the tares, and expect sparrows.
I. Christianity Is Not a Political Action Committee
The Church does not exist to win elections or secure legislation—it exists to proclaim the Good Story, administer the Mysteries, and Disciple the Nations. The GOP is on organism for publication of policy, and policy IS theology, but no institution other than Christ’s own are life-force of Kingdom of God.
Jesus never promised political power, but He did promise this:
“The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows—he knows not how.” (Mark 4:26-27)
✅ Our job is not to fix America—it is to scatter seed, trusting God for the growth.
✅ There will be tares among the wheat (Matthew 13:30)—we do not control the harvest. But we can leave the tares.
✅ Not every seed falls on good soil (Matthew 13:3-9)—but no good seed fails to do its mighty, sometimes-alien and always cosmic work.
We engage in culture, in politics, and in the public square—not because we need paradise on this earth, but because God is calling us still.
II. The GOP and Natural Theology:
A Realistic Alliance
The new American Regime is not the Church, nor is it the Church’s enemy. It is a field—one among many. We engage with it when doing so serves the mission of the Good Story. But we must remember:
✅ The GOP does not love Christianity.
• It loves votes, endorsements, cultural legitimacy and interest rates.
• If supporting Christianity becomes incentively insolvent, we will be left behind.
✅ There will be sparrows picking at the seed.
• Not every effort will bear fruit.
• Many will come to the Church for power, not for Christ.
✅ But some seed will take root.
• Some within the political world will hear the Word and believe.
• Some will recognize that the Church is not an instrument of power, but the Body of Christ.
We do not put trust in princes (Psalm 146:3), but we do use every opportunity to preach Christ crucified.
III. The Tares, the Tired, and the True Harvest
Not every movement we support will endure. Not every battle we fight will be won. But the Church has never been called to win earthly battles—it has been called to be faithful in patient endurance, guardianship of the trust and watching of the times.
“Let both grow together until the harvest.” (Matthew 13:30)
There will be:
• Tares—false teachers, false friends, political movements that claim to love the Church but do not.
• The Tired—Christians who grow weary, wondering if our work makes a difference.
• The True Harvest—souls brought into the Kingdom by faithful preaching, faithful Sacraments, and faithful witness.
IV. Moving Forward with Wisdom in Christ
Christianity does not withdraw from political life, nor does it sell itself to the highest bidder. Instead:
✅ We PUBLISH boldly—in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2).
✅ We LISTEN wisely—aligning with no party, but working for the good of the city (Jeremiah 29:7).
✅ We Scatter the Good Seed and trust the Lord of the Harvest (Matthew 9:37-38).
V. Conclusion: Faithful Presence in a Broken World
Christianity is not an NGO. It is not a political movement. It is the Church of God in catholic dispersion:
Wise as serpents, we use the tools of the world. Innocent as doves, we do not trust them.
Bold as lions, we speak in the public square, but gentle as lambs we do not worship power.
Wreckless in trust, we scatter Good Seed, seeing that God alone raises his body.
Expect tares. Watch for sparrows. But know that the Word does not return void. (Isaiah 55:11)
“He who goes out weeping” doesn’t need to chase the throne in order to reign.
Outstanding.
Great message. God's peace.
