Reclaiming the “American” Government
This article inspired by Autism Capital
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy—two Gen X upstarts with little patience for bureaucracy—have unveiled a bold new blueprint to put the federal government on a diet. Authorized with the full power of the executive order, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is not all talk. Musk and Ramaswamt posted an op ed in the Wall Street Journal outlining a plan to cut bloated spending, rein in out-of-control agencies, and return power to the people, all with a hard, historic deadline: July 4, 2026, America’s 250th birthday.
Here’s their claim to magic sauce: this is not a “task force.” This is big government created to destroy big government. It’s a declaration of independence from waste, corruption, and inefficiency. It’s a chance to repent and do many things right again.
Does that mean it will work?
What planet do you live on?
But there is no reason not to pray for a good plan to succeed in putting an end to evil things, like copyright, ahem, I mean, like “red tape,” especially that which hurts the poor.
Cutting Red It
The backbone of DOGE concept is the recent Supreme Court decisions: West Virginia v. EPA (2022) and Loper Bright v. Raimondo (2024). These rulings called out federal agencies for overstepping their bounds, and Musk and Ramaswamy want to take those decisions and run with them.
How? Assemble a lean, mean legal team within DOGE to scour the federal code for regulations that go beyond what Congress authorized. Armed with this intel, they’ll send these cases to the President, who can issue executive orders to freeze or eliminate the overreach.
Critics might call it overreach, but Musk and Ramaswamy say it’s the opposite: “This is about ending rogue government overreach, not expanding it.” And here’s the kicker—once these bad regulations are scrapped, they can only come back if Congress votes them in. That’s real accountability. At least, that’s what the constitution says….
How would you fight government bloat without government? Or, are Christians not to be involved in worldly things like government? Can politicians, too, be saved?
Downsizing Done Right
Musk and Ramaswamy might be fools. But they are evidently men driven be conviction. They believe you fix bloated bureaucracy but shrinking it. Trim the fat—with insight and intent.
• How it works: Identify redundant or unnecessary positions tied to rescinded regulations.
• Compassion in layoffs: Offer generous severance packages to affected employees.
• Mandatory in-office work: Federal employees will return to their desks, making some “voluntary departures” a win-win for everyone (although this alone has led to many rumors about mass resignations if implemented. That this is a “self-own” that furthers the gameplay of the incumbents appears to be beyond them.)
But the vote of the populace wasn’t about indiscriminate destruction; it was a mandate for taking care in what we do and who we are. Transparency, sustainability and sufficiency are Silicon Valley matters of fact. You can’t build and sell software without cleaning up a few messes. Bringing the scrum-team mindset to government can help any party that learns to understand its message organic acceptance of a little disorder in order to effect a lean, efficient, and focused greater order in the results.
Ending the Spending Spree
The federal government spends $500 billion annually on programs without Congressional approval. Musk and Ramaswamy are calling this out—and cutting it out.
Here are just a few examples of the unchecked spending they’re targeting:
• $535 million a year to Public Broadcasting.
• $1.5 billion in grants to international organizations.
• $300 million to Planned Parenthood.
• More nonsensical sh*t than you can shake a stick at:
By reallocating these funds, DOGE aims to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent in the USA.
Federal Black Holes
The Pentagon, a federal money pit managing an $800 billion budget but failing every audit it’s ever taken. Musk and Ramaswamy’s plan includes audits across all federal agencies, starting with defense.
Audits aren’t just paperwork—they’re tools to root out waste and demand accountability. Transparency here could reshape how Americans see their government: efficient, responsible, and answerable to the taxpayers footing the bill.
Musk and Ramaswamy aren’t interested in creating another permanent government office. DOGE has a sunset clause: it will dissolve itself by July 4, 2026, after delivering its reforms.
This isn’t a government jobs program—it’s a mission. By 2026, DOGE aims to:
• Cut waste.
• Restore balance to federal agencies.
• Leave behind a leaner America.
Rebuilding Trust
When they’re done, they’re out. That’s not bureaucracy—that’s leadership. Pray for it. What an act? How easy it is to take and keep power. Maybe they will. But, as the story goes, George Washington did not.
Musk and Ramaswamy’s grew up with the same pledge of allegiance. For them this isn’t just about slashing budgets and firing paper-pushers. It’s about something bigger: renewing Americans’ faith in their government. Truly: renewing general faith in people.
That doesn’t mean “under God” for each of their hearts. But it does mean so for us.
A plan that tackles overreach, waste, and inefficiency with bold solutions grounded in law, logic, and accountability is righteous. Ask Jesus for such things from all princes, presidents and CEOs. Put out your own rallying cry for a lawfulness that serves all, and an end to the lawlessness which only serves itself. Pray for a future in every institution where:
• Regulations don’t crush innovation.
• Budgets aren’t black holes.
• Leaders don’t profiteer behind bureaucratic red tape.
The Bottom Line
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is a big idea for a big problem: a bloated, unaccountable federal government that has lost sight of its purpose. I’m not saying I trust it. I don’t give my heart to Musk or Ramaswamy. But as men of conscience, they are laying down the gauntlet of their convictions, proving that even the most entrenched systems can be challenged with righteous vision, clear judgment, and a belief that neither money nor power can fulfill an empty soul.
Try it with your home budget:
• Cut the fat. If it’s wasteful, it’s gone.
• Restore accountability. Every dollar spent, every rule enforced, must answer to the your principles.
• Empower your family. This isn’t about control from the top—it’s about putting power back in the hands of those with the space and heart to use it for something good.
The new regime has set an inspiring deadline—July 4, 2026. That’s just around the corner.
Your Time is Now
America is praying for leaders who will fight for efficiency, transparency, and the Constitution. Musk and Ramaswamy are offering a roadmap to reclaim the government from the clutches of waste and overreach by filling it with young, dynamic constitutionalists. They can’t do it alone. They need Americans of good will and deep capacity:
P.S. They’re hiring
Where are the Lutherans?
It’s time for the us to expect better—better judgment, better spending, better leadership. This isn’t just about cutting red tape; it’s about caring the poor, seeking and saving the orphan, and praying that government by the people remains for the people.
“Let’s innovate.”
“Let’s restore.” Reform isn’t just possible—it’s necessary. Own your place in the Reformation.
July 4, 2026—here we come, in the Name of Jesus.
