The Lie is the Test.
Observation: The Liar and the Thief
The lie is not merely error; it is theft of trust. The liar and the thief are kin—one steals by hand, the other by tongue. Both destroy fellowship, both deny repentance, both sow thorns.
Behavioral Marks of the Liar
1. Eyes — Cannot hold gaze. When met with steady eyes, they exit swiftly.
2. Corners — They hide behind barriers: desks, tables, corners. They avoid the open commons.
3. Labor — Ever stressed, ever hurried, yet no fruit borne. Their toil is barren.
4. Feet — Quick to move, yet moving nowhere. Frenzy without pilgrimage.
5. Burdens — Many bags, many books, always exhausted. Yet the contents are hidden.
6. Temper — Swift to anger, quick to rebuke, slow to hear.
7. Silence — If you are still, they must fill the air first.
8. Distance — Rebuke by message, not by face. Digital prophets, coward in flesh.
9. Detail — Confronted with the obvious lie, they vanish behind “urgent matters.”
10. Pride — Never wrong. Repentance is anathema. Their root yields only briars.
Speech of the Liar
• Zeal without Scripture — Their passion is real, but their words are not the Word.
• Victim’s Cloak — “Performance anxiety,” “You don’t know my struggles.” Excuses of the self-made martyr.
• Psycho-babel — Empty jargon, meant to impress, not to build.
Tactical Counsel
• Hold eye contact. Their retreat is their confession.
• Do not chase their hurry; it leads nowhere.
• Demand details. The lie cannot endure scrutiny.
• Measure words against Scripture; zeal without truth is counterfeit fire.
• Know that from this plant grows only thistles. Expect no fruit.
Charge
The liar’s test is to see if you will join him in falsehood. The thief’s test is to see if you will guard your field. Stand firm, Sons of Solomon. Be as still waters. Let their hurried feet stumble. Eyes open, mouths measured, hearts steadfast in the Word of Christ.
