God never allowed my father, a Lutheran pastor, to experience worldly success. Yet, he remained absolutely faithful, always pouring everything he had into the members of his small congregations, never seeking recognition. He also remained faithful to his family, consistently leading family devotions until I left for college. (As a parent of teenagers now, I see how difficult that is.)
I pray for God's blessings in all that you do for God's Kingdom, as well as for your wife and kids. Your work has helped me in my faith and my vocations.
I have been and will continue to ask Jesus to open a door for you to return to parish ministry. From following your content for years, it seems to me as an observer, you are “wired” and have been fashioned for the Divine call. I know this is going to be a crude analogy, but Hosea didn’t exactly have a perfect home life (to put it mildly). Nevertheless, he was called to preach The Word. I obviously don’t know the details of your current family crosses to bear. But I have yet to hear you say anything that should disqualify you from a new call. You are a gifted preacher. Each Sunday as soon as my wife and I got home from our local LCMS Church, we would listen to your sermons. This is your “thing” Pastor. Yes, “saved” is great. But you shine best in the pulpit.
May Jesus grant you strength, patience, endurance and hope as you wait to see what gates are opened for you!

God bless you Jonathan! Are you doing memento 70? I thought maybe as we read acts 21 today. Praying for you and your family.
