One thing the Bible is absolutely certain about is that the Fire is coming.

Holy Fire. Heavenly Fire. God’s Fire.

“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up” (Malachi 4).

Paul says this too: “No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

“Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

“If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Cor. 3).

This is good news. The oven will burn up straw, but it will temper steel. It will purify gold. The Spirit of God within you does not yearn for your destruction, but for your enlightenment, for the dross to be removed, for the true heart to shine, for your footsteps to walk with God.

The Fire is coming. The Fire is already here.

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Tim 1).

“Stir up” (“Anazopurein” - ἀναζωπυρεῖν), which can be translated as “kindle” or “fan into flame” is literally the three Greek words “Again-Life-Fire”shoved into one glorious mouthful.

The Fire is coming, and He’s already here.

Inside you.

“Do not be ashamed of the testimony,” is the next thing Paul points to. That means,

1 Say Jesus’ Name out loud daily and often;

2 Read and speak his Word daily and often;

3 Watch him unfold that you Reign with Him in true glory.
