So, today was not what I expected.
The worst part about trying to do anything online these days is that nothing is what it seems.
So, I’m three months into a year long subscription to Fine Art America as a place to build my little artists corner on the internet. What matters most to me is that I provide the absolute most beautiful product possible. This is why I was so taken with FAA’s product when the first one arrived in the mail. It is a print under glass of Jesus calming the storm, and it sits in a place of honor in my room.
But it’s also only 8 inches by 8 inches.
I’m really loving my art, so I went and invested some Christmas money in software to enlarge my work. I am, indeed, very happy with the output of Topaz, though at the price it ought to be good!
So I’m merrily plugging along, planning to get good at this thing, and then go re-upload much higher quality versions of the art best suited for hanging in your church, school, or beautiful space, only to find that FAA limits images to 25M….!?!?!
Now, when I’ve got a 5x5’ 135M image that is meant to make canvas worth the money we’d spend, how in this postmodern earth am I supposed to work with 25M and get anywhere near the quality?
Maybe you know. That’s why I’m writing this in part. Do you know where I can print canvas prints of my art that is not limited to chump data plans? Or am I missing some key evolutionary link in data-compression? Please: https://madpxm.com/contact/
I’m sure its for the best, but just trying to get a few good print products at an ever remotely reasonable price without going in to the tune of thousands of dollars in retail investment sure feels harder than it should be in our times. So many pictures in the machine, and so few ways to get the ghost out.
So, now there is an updated single picture at FFA, and you can’t bastardize it as a shower curtain. But that hardly solved the problem. I’ve got more beautiful art in the wings, all too big to fit in the FAA universe.
Do you want to start an online company for printing cards and canvas at a reasonable cost? Or are we just in a time where all the potential goods of the internet economy are going to slip through the fingers of humanity one by one?
