The OT Radiance of Jesus Christ
Let’s make one thing absolutely clear: Jesus Christ isn’t just another piece of history, another prophet, or another moral teacher. He’s the main event, the reason the universe exists, the King of Kings, and, yes, the very radiance of God’s glory. The first chapter of Hebrews lays this out in a way no one else can—bold, brilliant, and completely undeniable.
From the beginning, God spoke to us through prophets. Great guys, all of them. Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah—they all had their role to play. But the Son? He’s not just delivering a message; He is the message. He’s the Creator, the Sustainer, the Savior. Hebrews 1 doesn’t hold back: it declares, in no uncertain terms, that Jesus is the culmination of everything God has been telling us since Genesis.
Jesus and the Angels: No Contest
Angels are amazing. They’re powerful, glorious, and straight from heaven. But compared to Jesus? They’re just the staff. Hebrews hits this hard, quoting Psalm 2:7, where God says, “You are My Son; today I have begotten You.” Not a single angel got that memo. They’re servants, messengers—essential workers, sure, but Jesus is the Son. He’s the heir to it all, and the angels worship Him, not the other way around. Hebrews even throws in Deuteronomy 32:43 to remind us that every knee—human and angelic—bows to Him.
The Creator of Everything
You want power? Jesus made the universe. Not helped, not subcontracted—He laid the foundation of the earth and crafted the heavens (Psalm 102:25-27). And while everything else fades, He doesn’t. He’s eternal, unchanging, and in control. You look around at the chaos in the world, and it feels like everything’s falling apart. But Jesus? He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. When you’re anchored to Him, you’re anchored to the unshakable.
The Throne That Lasts Forever
Let’s talk about kingship. Psalm 45:6-7 says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.” This isn’t just flowery poetry. It’s fact. Jesus reigns, not just for a term, not just for a dynasty, but forever. His scepter is one of righteousness, not corruption. He doesn’t flip-flop on the truth or pander for votes. His justice is perfect, His rule unending, and His kingdom unshakable. That’s the kind of leader you can trust.
Victory Is His Name
Finally, Hebrews ends with the knockout punch: Psalm 110:1. “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” This is power, pure and simple. Jesus sits at God’s right hand, the ultimate position of authority. Every enemy—sin, death, Satan—gets crushed under His feet. It’s not a question of if, but when. His victory is already sealed, and every opponent knows it.
What This Means for You
Hebrews 1 isn’t just a theological statement; it’s a rallying cry. It’s a reminder that Jesus isn’t just part of the story—He is the story. He’s the Creator, the King, the Victor. He’s the one holding it all together, and He’s inviting you to trust Him.
This isn’t about vague spirituality or feel-good slogans. It’s about reality. Jesus Christ is the ultimate truth, the only foundation, and the eternal hope. Worship Him. Trust Him. Anchor your life to Him. Because when the dust settles, when every throne and power has fallen, He will remain. And those who stand with Him will never be shaken.
Believe it. Proclaim it. Live it. Jesus Christ—the radiance of God’s glory, the King above all kings, the Word made flesh—is everything. Now and forever.
