God does not need us to defend him. There is no need for us to master a thousand arts and arguments. By prayer, petition, praise and faithful witness, we are born again to go on offense even in the darkest hour.
Christianity is the Kingdom that shall not yield, the aroma of death that breathes everlasting life. The name of our King is our banner, and his wounds are our shield. His blood is our ensign, and our bodies client members in mysterious relationship and personal communion with the Lord of all the heavens and earth.
This is what we have received from the beginning. This is not up for debate. This is to be proclaimed.
The Church of Jesus Christ doesn’t snuff out just because it smolders for a generation or six. Every time it looks like we are surrounded, it turns out that heaven surrounds us more greatly still. This is the ground of biblical Christian faith, and we are born again to stand upon it amidst the ruins of this world, staking our claim on the everlasting tomorrow of the next one, certain in our hope that the Spirit of the Holy God is at work to write his song upon our hearts from now till then and beyond, for this is the path of righteousness that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Conflict with the world is sure to come.
