2. Classical Greece:
• The term “dēmokratia” was coined in the 5th century BCE in Athens to describe their political system, signifying a city where power is held by the people. democracy was characterized by direct participation of citizens in decision-making, where citizens could vote on laws and policies.

• The Greek “dēmokratia” was adopted into Latin as “democratia,” maintaining the same meaning.
4. Middle Ages and Renaissance:
• The concept of democracy saw little use during the Middle Ages but was revived during the Renaissance when Greek philosophy was rediscovered and studied.
5. Modern Adoption:
• The word entered English in the late 16th century, retaining the classical sense of a political system where the people have the power. The concept of democracy has not evolved significantly from its ancient Greek origins, despite adapting to different cultural contexts in modern times, including many “representative democracies.”
Conclusion
The whole thing is a make-believe sophistry. Athens was not egalitarian. Votes were manufactured and manipulated then just as they are now. The only people capable of governing themselves are therefore capable of governing, and therefore capable of enjoying the gifts of governance and being governed by good men.
Seek the Kingdom.
