I received a question from one of you recently:
Is any of the 'RevFisk' substack content (still?) behind a paywall...? ...ability to add comments? ...the archive? I wanted to drop a paid subscription down but I can't find the links anywhere; the banner suggesting 'paid' is an option are unlinked; so it looks like 'free' is the only option...? (I could have sworn the 'paid' options were available a few weeks ago...)
For the last few days the paid subscription has been on pause. Following a week of post-fever fatigue, I also discovered that internet traffic can do direct damage to my bank account (in quite disproportional levels) by disputing a substack subscription with the bank rather than simply cancelling it.
That is: someone said I am failing to deliver here, and I got taxed for it.
Whatever goods and services this little blog of mine failed to deliver, I am emotionally perplexed. Please, take your $5 back, and go in peace. I pray you find what you are looking for.
But seriously, for the rest of us who are still here, what do you think that I am promising you? I mean it. Leave a comment if you’re paying for the right to do so. Speak up, both here and at the Tank. A rising tide lifts all ships: I really do believe that.
But I don’t want anyone paying for subscription because you think I’m promising you something more than access to my notes as I prepare them for publication in other places. I am not your guru. I’ve been down the road of being someone’s failed idol before. I don’t want it.
We don’t need it.
So, thank you to all you paid subscribres who read the extra that I write because you want to. These are hard financial times, and I’m holding a few strings together on behalf of the Kingdom, so I cannot tell you how much of a reward you are to us here in Rockford when you give. The same is true when you support BHOP, STWN and all the rest of it on Subscribe Star.
But I’m selling you no package, and I don’t really want your money.
I want your eyes. I want your heart. I want to walk with you in the Light of Jesus Christ. I want to discern together, understand together, and hope together.
I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are tired of losing sleep over it. We are fed up with holding back because we are afraid of it. We are ready to believe that in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, we are in it together and for the good.
So, I won’t even promise that in the paid content there will always be a 100% authentic, unique and beautiful picture of a tree, freely copiable, pritable and monetizable under the Creative Commons. Except that there always has been, except on the days I made it all free, because, you know, I wanted you to see it.
That’s the whole point.
