Move on and Control what is Yours
The key to persistent enjoyment of living is gratitude for what you already have. It is always enough. It is always good, and it is also always going bear more fruit.
Pessimism and optimism can both be wielded as deferred accountability. Positive and negative thinking both become rank, complicit, willful ignorance when rooted narcissism. Most market spiritualities are ethereal nonsense mumbled under self-absorbed jargon. It is the soul of the matter that matters.
If you want change, that means there is something not the way you want it to be. But knowing things are not how you want them to be is not the same as knowing how how to get them from here to there. The dream, the ideal, the idol, is a fantasy. They are not real.
Courage is the spirit to discover what to do when there is no one else there to follow. Discipline is the habit to take courage from embryo to special operations. It starts with making the decision to not go back.
Leaders get it wrong. Last year’s path to victory is sometimes this year’s strategy for defeat. But maybe not. Or, maybe only every third year. Organization is, by definition, a disorganized experience. Once the story is lost, it’s not really worth it at all. Then, and especially then, it’s imperative to remember that red tape is just the forgotten result of someone else’s bad and transitory imagination.
How to know when to pull out the scissors?
It doesn’t matter. What matters is that once you pull out the scissors the decision is over. You’ve made it. It’s in the dust. Now, you’re in the lead. What matters is not whether or not this was the right moment. What matters is what you do with the next ones.
No one is in charge of you except for you. Leadership is that righteousness by which a good man chooses now, because, now it a set and proper time. The right time. The best time. The time we’d better do, or it won’t ever get done at all.
It is the soul of the matter that matters: when there are not enough good men, then you must become one.
