From Today’s Stack
The Next Level
The past is not only in the past. It is in the present. The present “effect” of the past is the stability of the past, for good or ill, in the now. This means that today, so powerfully founded on the past, can only appear fragile when it becomes a story about the future.
This is the power of writing. Which means that the most important question one can ask about the future is, “What are you reading?”

For You
The crow comes cawing, promising your freedom, but telling you that **you** must earn it. He promises you supernatural wisdom, but tells you that **you** must figure it out. He promises you comfort, but insists that **you** find it inside yourself. He tells you that you’re just on the other side of glory, if only **you** can create it. He offers you the world, but he leaves you hanging on a cross all by your damned self, fed up with it all, and wondering where in hell this Jesus is; He was supposed to make it all better.
He does this the only way he can. He steals Jesus’ Words, and he uses **you** to do it. Don’t let that happen.
The house grow dirty, but the Spirit’s work is to sweep it clean. As he does, we don’t leave it empty for any ol’ one trick pony to slip in and start excreting his filth all over again. Oh, no. Now is the day of salvation. Today is the day to fill it all up again.
The Good News cannot be reduced to a one hit wonder. At the cross of Jesus, our hearts kindle fire that never smolders out. In the resurrection of Jesus, good reason for faith answers even the toughest questions. In the pure Word of God on the plain paper pages of the Bible, true purpose builds on the foundation that never falters.
Thank God, that is not “me.”
For all of you Punk Rock Johns out there who aren’t burnt out on the faith and uncertain sure much longer you can hold on: this book is written for you.
