I am more and more convinced that the branches can only abide. No secrets, no striving, I cannot force fruit it must come from the vine alone.

"What can we do about XYZ?" is a question I hear a lot, whether it is about the empire or the parish attendance. More and more, I believe that the advice James the Just gives us teaches that this is a misguided question. "What can the righteous do?" is not asked in the Psalms in order to inspire us to fix what God has chosen to apply.

Thank you for affirming something I’ve been reflecting on. I’ve mentioned in previous comments that I’m in a “season” of life where things that where common place in the past, are now missing. I pray often and wonder often…..”why”. It’s interesting, Substack’s algorithms can read my mind. I’m directed to countless articles that promise they have the information (the secret) to getting back that which is not here. I’ve come to the conclusion that “the promise’s” offered are nothing but smoke and mirrors. Simply reinforcing the accusation that “you aren’t doing it right”, “you aren’t trying hard enough”, “you are just a loser if you don’t get it”.

Thank you for helping me be at peace with “I honestly don’t know”.

Such an empowering article to help with rejecting gnosis and instead trusting Him.

Thank you Jonathan!

I heard it said that it is as if we see the back of a tapestry, with all those loose threads and unclear images and patterns.

God sees the front.

We know there is a picture that is stunning and awesome and true. We see bits and parts from our perspective, and even they are awesome.

Alleluia. Sometimes the pattern is beautiful but our feelings are not. This does not make the pattern incorrect. It reveals that our flesh deceptive.

Those who cannot believe that repentance is action rather than feeling will ever be subject to their own whim. This is the tyranny of the accuser inside of us. The Good Message is that we are where God put us.

Control and judgement are the Almighty's alone. On earth as it is in heaven. AMEN.

Part of original sin is thinking we can see the entire picture. It is always more complex than any of us can sum up.

Trust is impossible to “make.” It must be grown, and it needs good Seed, not more elbow grease.
