Your goal is not to establish a permanent place in the hall of fame of this world, but to make the name of Jesus known to the people you meet in it.

The craziest thing about the self-congratulatory elites in Davos is their smug sense of security. The more I think about it, the more biblical it all becomes. They are so convinced of their centralization of real power, so trusting in the inevitability of their timelines, that they are fearless to openly talk about their plans to herd and cull us like cattle.

He who sits in the heavens laughs. Jesus Christ holds them in derision. He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure, for he is set as King in Zion, on God’s Mountain, the holy hill.

Perhaps you saw that the United States alone on the UN Security Council vetoed a ceasefire in Gaza? It’s gotta feel lonely sometimes, but the ice in that room was palpable even through the screen.

Yet, there is nothing you or I can do about this war, or any of the other wars. It is nigh unavoidable in our age that we are confronted by the tales of such lofty things, matters that matter to us, but are yet too high for us to do anything about. As men, problems we cannot solve cause us great duress. We stew on them.

“What more can we do?”

Taste and see that Jesus is bigger.

It’s the third Wednesday in Advent, and tonight we will sing, and we will hear from the Apostle John. We will eat and drink. We will pray for marriages and families, and we will remember that is our God who is the Master that preaches: you are mine, you meek ones, and you shall inherit the earth.

Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates. The Day of Jesus ever goes well for his Church.
